Self Guided Moose & Caribou Hunting Rafting On The Mulchatna River Package
Raft the Mulchatna River While Hunting Trophy Moose & Caribou in Alaska’s Units Units 17B & 19B — One of the Most Premier Hunting Corridors on Earth
Where the River Takes You to the Animals
The Mulchatna and Nushagak River corridor in Alaska Game Management Units 17B & 19B is one of the most productive and sought after moose hunting areas in the entire state. Big bulls come out of this river system in numbers that serious hunters travel from all over the world to pursue. Combine that with trophy Caribou moving through the same terrain and you have one of the greatest self-guided hunting opportunities available anywhere in Alaska.
Bush Pilot Hunter’s Retreat Lodge drops you in by floatplane, supplies your rafts, and lets you hunt on your own terms. Spike camp setup is the guest’s responsibility. You raft the river while you hunt — covering serious miles of prime habitat every day, stopping wherever the animals are. No guides. No hand-holding. Just you, the river, and some of the finest big game country left on earth.
Mulchatna River — Unit 17B
The Mulchatna River is a long, powerful river running through the heart of Units 17B & 19B — two of Alaska’s premier moose hunting units. Your hunt begins at the put-in point at Twin Lakes / Dummy Point Lake in Unit 19B and as you raft down the Mulchatna River the corridor carries you into Unit 17B. The river provides daily access to moose feeding and bedding along the banks, Caribou crossing open tundra flats, and Brown Bears working the shallows. Rafting the river puts you in contact with animals every single day of your hunt.
