our package includes weekly floatplane excursions to the most productive nearby rivers and lakes, including a special fly-out to the world-famous Kvichak River for Sockeye Salmon and Brooks Falls for legendary bear viewing. Every Friday, you choose your floatplane fly-out destination — head to the world-famous Kvichak River for the legendary Sockeye Salmon runs, or fly to the mighty Nushagak River to chase the prized King Salmon. Your adventure, your choice.
Floatplane Fishing Fly-Outs and Included Activities
The Bush Pilot Hunter’s Retreat offers weekly floatplane fishing fly-outs to nearby rivers and lakes, providing guests with the ultimate DIY fishing experience. In addition, there is one special flyout to Brooks Falls for bear viewing. All necessary permits are included for every activity. At the lodge, guests can enjoy a variety of outdoor games, an archery range, and a gun range. Alcohol and spirits are welcome, but guests must bring their own. After fishing, the lodge staff will filet your catch, vacuum seal it, freeze it, and package it in a fish box for you to take home. National Park fees and land use fees are included, and the lodge is equipped with Starlink Wi-Fi. Fishing gear includes salmon and rainbow fly rods, open cast reels, and all necessary equipment.
Bush Pilot Hunter’s Retreat Package Prices
The retreat package is priced at $16,000 per person. This includes the DIY unguided lodge experience, seven nights and seven days of fishing, and all essential amenities.
DIY Unguided Retreat Lodge Details
The lodge provides all meals, and guests are responsible for cooking and cleaning in the dishwasher. There is a washer and dryer available for personal laundry. Private charter flights from Anchorage to the lodge are included, valued at $600. Guests stay in our 2-story guest cabin featuring 8 private units, each 48×28 feet, with a center divider wall that creates a private 10×28-foot unit per guest. Each unit is fully equipped with its own shower, toilet, small electric range, television, in-floor heat with hot water heater, refrigerator, freezer, and Queen size bed. The lodge provides all beverages, six 18-foot aluminum boats with fuel included in the package at no extra charge, and all lodging essentials for a comfortable stay.
What the Package Does Not Include
Guests are responsible for purchasing their Alaska resident or non-resident fishing licenses and salmon stamps, which can be obtained online from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game: Link. Alcohol must be brought by guests if desired.
Optional Kayak Access — Safety Notice
Complimentary kayaks are available for optional use near shore. Please be aware that Iliamna Lake water temperatures average 50°F year-round. Falling into the water without proper cold-water gear poses a serious hypothermia risk. Kayak use is entirely optional and at each guest’s own discretion and risk. Life jackets must be worn at all times on the water.
