Katmai National Park — Brooks Falls Bear Viewing

Watch Brown Bears Catch Salmon at the Lip of Brooks Falls — One of the Greatest Wildlife Spectacles on Earth

The Crown Jewel of Your Alaskan Adventure

Every Wednesday morning your floatplane departs Bush Pilot Hunter’s Retreat Lodge at 6AM for the breathtaking flight to Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park. The flight itself is an experience — mesmerizing views of scenic Alaskan mountains and ancient glaciers fill every window the entire way. When you land and make your way to the bear viewing platforms, what you witness will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Brooks Falls is one of the most extraordinary wildlife viewing locations on the planet. Every summer thousands of massive Alaskan brown bears gather at the lip of the falls to catch sockeye salmon as they leap upstream. Standing on the platform just feet away from these incredible animals as they fish is something no photograph or video can fully prepare you for.

This fly-out is included in your $16,000 weekly package — no extra charge.

About Brooks Falls & Katmai National Park

Brooks Falls is located inside Katmai National Park and Preserve on the Alaska Peninsula — one of America’s most remote and spectacular national parks. The park was established to protect the landscape following the 1912 eruption of Novarupta volcano and today is home to one of the highest concentrations of brown bears in the world.

The National Park Service provides world-class bear viewing platforms and strict guidelines that keep both guests and bears safe. All National Park fees are included in your Bush Pilot Hunter’s Retreat Lodge package.
