You will be flown via floatplane to your drop-off point on a remote Alaskan river, where you will self-guide your rafting expedition back through stunning wilderness terrain. This is a true self-guided experience — no professional guide, no hand-holding, just you and the river.

At Bush Pilot Hunter’s Retreat Lodge, we provide nearly everything for a self-guided adventure—whether you’re fishing, rafting, or hunting. Below is a detailed guide so guests know what to expect and what to bring.

Lodge-Supplied Gear

  • Fishing trips: all fly rods, spin-cast rods, reels, tackle, rafts, paddles
  • Rafting trips: rafts, paddles, wetsuits, safety gear
  • Hunting trips: firearms and archery (guest-provided), or guidance for tags/permits
  • Food & Cooking: small propane grill, fuel, utensils, plastic dishes, and cooler
  • Shelter: tents or lodge accommodations, cots, and bedding
  • Safety & Essentials: portable electric bear fence, GPS satellite phone, first aid kits, fire starter
  • Transport: floatplane or bush plane drop-offs and pickups

Guest-Provided Items

Guests are responsible for bringing:

  • Fishing/hunting licenses & salmon stamps
  • Bug spray & sunscreen
  • Personal medication
  • Glasses or contacts
  • Proper clothing & footwear (rain gear, boots, warm layers)
  • Hunting gear (for hunting trips)
  • Optional extras: cameras, binoculars, and personal gear for comfort
